Seller's Note: Full run time - the system was originally spec’d at about 6 hours of runtime under a full coffee trailer load, including the A/C, espresso machine, grinders, fridge, lights, pump, and water heater. In real-world use, runtime depends heavily on A/C usage and outside temperature.
When the A/C is not running constantly, we’ve found that it comfortably gets us through a full Sunday service from 7:00 am to 12:30 pm with battery left over. If the A/C runs the whole time heavily, it usually makes it through service but is typically close to empty by the time we finish cleaning and leave around 1:00–2:00 pm.
Realistically, we tend to turn the A/C on as it gets hotter outside rather than running it nonstop from the start. The equipment we chose was selected with power efficiency in mind, and with conservative power management we’ve been able to take the trailer out and back for roughly a 9-hour day including drive time, setup, service, teardown, and return. Under heavy use, especially with consistent A/C, I’d tell someone to plan around the 6-hour mark.
Access to power can also play a big role. With 50-amp service, we can charge the trailer from about 20% to 100% in roughly 3 hours, even with the espresso machine left on and the fridges running. We leave the espresso machine on by choice because it is 230–240v and very efficient at maintaining temperature once heated. Keeping it hot can save roughly 5–10% of the battery that would otherwise be used to heat it up from cold, and once it is already hot, it only uses about 2–3% to stay warm in transit.
If only standard 120V power is available, the trailer can still be charged overnight to 100%, but the espresso machine should be shut off while charging that way.
